Marilyn Parizek Reid

Marilyn Parizek Reid 81, of Savannah, GA, passed away from a brief illness on March 8, 2025. Marilyn graduated from Regina High School, attended the University of Iowa and graduated from Arizona State University. She spent most of her adult life in Dallas, TX, before moving to Savannah to be near her daughter and youngest grandchildren.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Marilyn was a dedicated teacher who excelled in working with preschool-age children. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Marilyn was married to her husband, William Reid. for 52 years, raising three children. Gregory Reid (Janelle), Jeffrey Reid, and Elizabeth Reid DeWitt (David), seven grandchildren Jack, Madison, Caroline, Cooper, Mary Tarver Reid and Jasmine and Reid DeWitt. and two great-grandchildren, Selene and Valentin. Marilyn’s surviving siblings are Bob Parizek (Diane), and John Parizek; she was predeceased in death by her husband William, son Jeff, and her brothers Michael Parizek and Monsignor Jim Parizek.
Marilyn's legacy will be remembered through the countless lives she touched as a teacher, mother, and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The funeral mass will be at Blessed Sacrament on April 5, 2025,at 11:00 am.
The family suggests any remembrances be made in her memory to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Savannah, GA.

Although Debbie and I will not be in attendance, we will be there in spirit with you. Marilyn always took the time to be kind to her much younger cousin, Tommy, whose family visited Iowa City almost every month when he was a boy. I am sure she will be close to the throne of Heaven.
